| It is with great regret that the decision has had to be taken by the OXL Committee, Oxfordshire AA and the co-host clubs, Oxford City AC and Headington RoadRunners to cancel the combined OXL Round 3 & Oxfordshire Cross Country Championships scheduled for Sunday, 9th January. The reason for the cancellation is due to the late notification of a clash with a large–scale rugby event at the same venue on the same day.
The following statement has been issued by the Chair of Oxford Harlequins Rugby Club confirming the clash:
Hi Dean
Good to speak to you this morning.
To confirm our conversation, we have a full fixture on Sunday for ages groups U6 – U12s on our pitches against Banbury, where we expect circa 7–800 people on the site. This has been arranged since last year when we put our fixtures together. We also have an u15s cup match at midday, followed by an under 18s game at 2pm.
As I mentioned, our Operations Director was only made aware of your event yesterday (6th) by the athletics club.
